If you remember yesterday’s post about the suspension

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Well if you also remember I was talking about driving across Canada to Alaska. .. Well these 2 things are now converging. The Wife told me that as long as I can afford it I should finish the car and as long as it has Air Conditioning and Heat and won’t break down she will drive cross country with me and our daughter in it. So it looks like project Rust Bucket is back on. No to figure out parts I need and order to get them.

I might be a crazy gearhead, but in fairness my wife has the wrench tattoo not me.

A significant other that supports your car obsession is an awesome thing! I know, I am lucky enough to have one too.

Was pure luck. A customer of the shop bought it brand new, forgot to set the TV cable correctly and detonated the gears inside. He bought a junkyard one and left the other for scrap so I paid my BIL to rebuild it with all new parts. Its a TCI Street Fighter.

The TV thing is a big deal, a lot of people fuck it up.

What converter are you running? Still a lock-up?

Its a non lockup matching TCI, 1500 stall I think it is, I need to go back and check all my notes. I might have to update the rear end its a stock 2.73 non posi and with the new 350 I am afraid its going to detonate. Also I am petrified when it gets time to adjust the TV cable.

Stock 8.2?

Yup. The issues is a 1964 had a narrower rear end then 66 and on. I am afraid I will loose to much clearance in the back if I upgrade to a 8.5 out of a 70s or so. I need to look into beefing up the 8.2 or even if it is worth it. I’m not planning on dragging it.

Wait, it’s still the drop-out style rear, right? 64 was the last year?

Kinja'd!!!0

64-65 I believe were the years that used the narrower rear end, but technically 64-72 all used the same style with coils. So yes it is a drop out.

Nevermind, I was thinking of something else. I know ‘64-’67 are 60" across and ‘68-’72 are 62"

I was thinking it was the earlier drop-out center section style.

I’d spec out a 28 spline 3.73 posi for it.

That’s exactly what I was thinking
